About Us
The Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen (UPDIS) is a planning, consulting, research and design firm that focuses on using creative and pragmatic methods to address urban issues.
UPDIS uses multi-disciplinary comprehensive planning approach to complex urban development problems. Since UPDIS was established in 1990, the company has completed over 3500 projects in Shenzhen as well as in over 200 cities around China and the world. This includes, but is not limited to:
•large-scale regional research
•planning and urban design
•transportation and municipal infrastructure
•low-carbon and ecological technology research and application
•local policy development.
At UPDIS we have already created long-lasting partnerships with domestic and overseas consulting companies, academic institutions and organizations. A few major projects that have been completed and implemented include: “Urban Design of Shenzhen’s Futian City Centre,” “The Comprehensive Plan of Shenzhen City,” “Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen, the Comprehensive Plan,” “Shenzhen Greenway Network Plan,” “Master Plan for Shenzhen International Low-carbon City,” and “Shenzhen Urban Regeneration Strategies, Techniques and Regulations.” Shenzhen has become China’s model for new urbanism because of its capacity to be both sustainable and innovative, its naturally beautiful living environment, negotiable urban regeneration and existing low-carbon practices.
